What is a pipeline?

Represents a sequence of stages for deals. Pipelines organize opportunities by lifecycle and can be customized per team.

Key pieces

  • Pipeline: name, optional description, and a default flag.
  • Stages: ordered list with name, color, probability, and order.
  • A deal belongs to exactly one pipeline and one stage.

Creating and updating

  • Go to Settings -> Pipelines -> New Pipeline. Add stages and set one pipeline as default.
  • Reorder stages as your process changes; the board follows the same order.
  • Set probabilities for each stage to improve forecasting.

Good practices

  • Keep probabilities aligned with reality; adjust when win rates change.
  • Avoid frequent stage renames that confuse reporting; add description notes instead.
  • Use one default pipeline for general deals; add specialized ones only when the steps truly differ.

Common workflows

  • Build separate pipelines for sales, renewals, or partnerships.
  • Reorder stages as your process evolves; ensure the board matches your latest flow.
  • Trigger automations when a deal enters key stages (e.g., start onboarding when entering Closed Won).
